Backups

What a backup is in Webrelay

A backup is a full copy of your site from the website builder, saved as of a specific date. Webrelay re-parses the site, optimizes it, and saves a ZIP archive.

This is useful for:

  • Insurance — in case the builder changes or deletes your site
  • History — comparing versions of the site across different dates
  • Auto-updates — auto-deploy after a backup updates the site on your hosting

Creating a backup manually

  1. Open the site → "Backups" tab
  2. Click "+ Create backup"
  3. Wait for it to finish (1-5 minutes)

Automatic schedule

Set up a schedule so backups are created automatically:

  • Daily — once every 24 hours
  • Weekly — once every 7 days (you can pick the day of the week)
  • Monthly — once every 30 days (you can pick the date)

You can also specify the time (UTC) when the backup runs.

Storage limits

Backups are available only with a Pro subscription. The number of stored versions depends on the plan:

SubscriptionSitesBackups per sitePrice
Pro 5510 versions299 ₽/mo
Pro 151520 versions599 ₽/mo
Pro 303030 versions999 ₽/mo

When the limit is exceeded, the oldest version is deleted automatically.

Protection from deletion

Important backups can be protected from automatic deletion:

  1. Click the lock icon next to the backup
  2. A "Do not delete" badge appears
  3. Protected backups are not deleted during rotation

This is useful if you want to keep a version "before a major update."

Renaming

Click the backup's name to give it your own name — for example, "Before redesign" or "Working version 2.0."

Auto-deploy

Enable auto-deploy so that after each backup the site is automatically updated on your hosting. Learn more in the FTP deploy section.

Downloading and deleting

  • Download — the download button to the right of the backup downloads the ZIP
  • Delete — the trash button deletes the backup and the file from storage permanently

FAQ

Who can use backups?

Backups are available only with a Pro subscription. On the free plan and with a package purchase, the backup feature does not work.

How often can I create backups?

Manually — at any time. On a schedule — daily, weekly (with a choice of weekday), or monthly (with a choice of date). You can specify the run hour in UTC.

What happens when the backup limit is exceeded?

The oldest version is deleted automatically (rotation). The number of stored versions depends on the plan: 10 (Pro 5), 20 (Pro 15), or 30 (Pro 30). Pinned backups are not deleted during rotation.

Are backups deleted after the subscription ends?

Yes, but not immediately — backups are kept for another 2 months after the subscription expires. If you renew within that time, the copies are preserved.

Can I automatically update the site on my hosting after a backup?

Yes. Enable auto-deploy — after each backup the site is automatically re-uploaded to the hosting via FTP. Learn more in the FTP deploy section.
